Author: Mikalyn HayI am a young songwriter. Moving from Northern Ontario to Guelph when I was 6. I think we have great writers here in Canada - no doubt - because we love love love music and songs. We support the arts and we have impassioned teachers that inspire and motivate us. We have crazy diversity of opinion and culture and we embrace that. We have opportunity to chase dreams and write and share and we are encouraged to do so. And we have resources - from the age of ten I have been able to search online and find supportive writers and mentors in SAC and SOCAN and other groups to help me learn. This canadian resource (us) helps people like me learn the art and the craft. I cant wait to write and share music and thanks to everyone that is helping me on this journey - including the legend you reference above!!! Mikalyn HayAuthor: Howard DruckmanWe can help you with that question! Please call our SOCAN Info Centre at 1-866-307–6226, or e-mail members@socan.ca and we’ll be glad to assist you.Read more comments

Author: Terry LoganWith the internet clearly recognized as (world best source) of documented information, would it not be fair to assume that, a posted blue print, a document, first audio broadcast or song, confirm a copy right owner where none existed before?Read more comments

Author: Martin PetersonSorry to say but Canadian "channels" on Sirius don't do us much good. The only people that will listen to them are curiosity seekers. What we really need now is the same as always... that mainstream channels (in this case, Sirius/XM) include Canadian content in their playlist. For example, the classic rock channels need to play Prism, Trooper, Stampeders, April Wine, BTO, Chilliwack, etc...All of the genres could find similar quality Canadian representation. I actually hear less Canadian music now than I ever have, in my 53 years.Author: Ross DouglasThis is good information to know. Having been a follower of the Trichordist blogs, the picture painted is not a rosy one - so it is encouraging to see that Siruis is complying with at least a bit of what I hope is an increasing mandate Thanks for it!Read more comments
